Setup for “Live To Tape” in Wirecast:
1) Open WC with your normal settings / inputs / etc.
2) Go to OUTPUT in top menu.
3) DO NOT start virtual camera out.
4) Choose Output Settings > Select an Output Destination > (dropdown) Record To Disk – MP4
5) Another window will appear – choose Encoding: Default 720p30 (4Mbps) x264 H.264
6) Choose audio track(s)
7) File Location (set to secondary drive if you have one, better if you can use external drive)
7a) Choose “Auto Increment Filenames” so you don’t write over any files.
8) NOTE: Running record to same drive that you’re running as boot / program drive may cause issues.
9) NOTE: Make sure you have available drive space on File Location drive.
10) DO NOT start camslicer.
11) When you’re ready to “go live” – just hit “record” at the top of your program interface.
I would run a test of this for about 5 minutes on your system with just someone talking to check for audio sync. Watch your CPU usage – over about 50% and you’re going to have sync issues. Do not use Live Titler while going live to disk. Do your first half hour show, then check your show – roll to the last 5 minutes and check the sync towards the end in a local video player.
